In September 2020, a group of Met dancers came together to brainstorm creative ways to keep the Met Dancer community connected and engaged during the COVID-19 pandemic. While our traditional places of work and performance were closed, we sought ways to keep our creativity and artistic practice alive, to reach and inspire audiences through new channels, and to imagine a more equitable and inclusive landscape of dance and dance within opera.
Our independent collective, Dancers of the Met, creates and produces live performances, classes, films, and platforms for discourse and creativity. In addition to our independent projects, we collaborate with members of the Met Chorus Artists and Met Orchestra and emphasize the interdisciplinary nature of opera and the camaraderie between the many artists of the Met.
After several successful events this spring, we have more exciting programs on the horizon and we look forward to sharing our creative journey with you!
